Collecting Avios
There are a few different ways to collect Avios, including shopping through the British Airways online store, purchasing Avios for yourself or as a gift for someone else, or subscribing. You can also convert Avios from other loyalty reward schemes like Nectar.
Collecting Avios by shopping
The British Airways online store is one of the easiest and most popular ways to collect Avios. Expand each section to find out more.
How do I start shopping and collecting Avios?
First you must be a member of the British Airways Executive Club. If you’re not a member, you can sign up on the British Airways website.
Once you’re signed up, you can start collecting Avios through the British Airways online store.
- Log in to your British Airways Executive Club account before accessing the British Airways online store
- Select a retailer and click the 'Shop Now' button
- Remember to always access the retailer's site through the British Airways online store so your Avios can be tracked
- Ensure that your internet browser cookies are enabled and disable "Prevent cross-site tracking" and any ad-blocker extensions
- Accept the retailer site cookies to ensure that your Avios are awarded to your account
Can I purchase from British Airways online store if I am not an Executive Club Member?
You can browse British Airways Avios online store without being a member, however, you’ll need to sign into your British Airways Executive Club account to collect Avios from purchases from participating retailers.
How do I know how many Avios I will collect?
The British Airways online store clearly outlines how many Avios you'll collect for purchases with participating retailers. In most cases, this will be expressed as a number of Avios collected per £1 spent at the retailer.
For example, if the retailer is offering 2 Avios per £1 spent, and your transaction total is £50 (excluding any taxes and shipping) you can expect to collect 100 Avios.
Sometimes, you may collect Avios for a single purchase or registering for a service, but not for subsequent actions or purchases.
Will I collect Avios for shipping, handling or tax included in my transaction?
You won't collect Avios on shipping, handling, or taxes associated with a purchase. Avios are only collected on the actual amount spent on the product or service.
When will my Avios be credited to my British Airways Executive Club account?
Here's what you need to know about when your Avios will be credited to your British Airways Executive Club account:
- Transactions will appear as 'Pending' in your British Airways online store transaction history within 5 working days of purchase
- It typically takes 35 days for non-travel or policy, contract, or subscription retailers to become 'Approved' and ready to redeem. Some retailers are enrolled in our Speedy Awarding program which means it will take 14 days for those transactions to be approved. Retailers who are part of our Speedy Awarding program will have the ‘speedy icon’ on their page
- Hotel and travel bookings, policy, contract, or subscription purchases may take 90-120 days after completing your stay or starting your policy, contract, or subscription for your Avios to be credited
- Once a transaction is approved, your Avios will be credited to your British Airways Executive Club account within 24 hours
- If we observe any unusual activity or purchasing patterns, we may require further investigation before awarding Avios. Your purchases are also subject to the retailer's terms and conditions

Which cards can I use to pay with when shopping via the British Airways online store?
As you pay the retailer directly, the payment options vary. In most cases, you can use any credit or debit card. However, please check the retailer's website for more details on payment methods.
If I am a member of a retailer’s own loyalty program will I still collect Avios?
Yes, you will still collect Avios and points from the retailer's own rewards program, unless stated otherwise in the retailer's terms and conditions.
Is it more expensive to shop via the British Airways online store?
No, shopping through the British Airways online store won't cost you more. You'll enjoy the same prices as you would by shopping directly with the retailers while collecting Avios at the same time.
How will my order be shipped?
Each retailer is responsible for their own shipping policies, including delivery times, costs, and returns. To view this information, please refer to the individual store's website.
Where can I see my transaction history?
You can see all your transactions in your account on the British Airways online store.
I forgot to sign in to the British Airways online store before shopping with a retailer. Can I still collect Avios?
No, we can't award Avios for purchases that didn't originate from the British Airways online store. To ensure that your purchases are tracked and Avios are awarded, please access the retailer's website through the British Airways Avios store.
Can I use my Avios to purchase products directly from the British Airways online store?
Currently, you can't use Avios to pay for goods on the British Airways online store. Avios collected through our store will be awarded to your British Airways Executive Club account and can be used to book Reward Flights with British Airways, Iberia and partner airlines, subject to availability. You'll need to pay Avios and a cash amount for taxes, fees and carrier charges. You can also convert your Avios to other loyal schemes like Nectar.
Can I shop at multiple stores through the British Airways online store?
Yes. It's simple to shop at multiple stores through the British Airways online store, but you must complete your transaction in each store before moving on to the next.
When shopping, keep the British Airways online store window open and stay logged in. When you have finished shopping with one retailer, return to the British Airways online store and visit the next retailer by clicking the ‘shop now’ button on the retailer’s page.
Why do I collect more Avios with some retailers than with others?
The amount of Avios you collect varies by retailer, as they decide the level of reward. The amount of Avios you receive will always be clearly stated on the retailer’s page.
Why have I collected a different amount of Avios from the same retailer?
Avios rates can fluctuate, and some retailers will run special offers which change the amount of Avios being awarded. The amount of Avios you receive will always be clearly stated on the retailer’s page.
I was interested in a retailer who is no longer listed, can you tell me why?
Sometimes, retailers opt out of participating in the British Airways online store and offering Avios to members.
What happens if I cancel a purchase I’ve made or want a refund?
You can cancel purchases and get a refund through the retailer's usual process, subject to their terms and conditions. However, any cancelled or refunded orders won't be eligible for Avios. If you cancel a purchase after receiving Avios, we may deduct Avios from your account.
Why has my transaction been cancelled?
Avios points may be cancelled for various reasons, including:
- You have returned your purchased product to the retailer
- There has been a payment failure or failure to meet the retailer's credit check requirements
- New registration was not deemed genuine
- The last click before visiting the retailer's page was not the British Airways online store
- The transaction does not meet the retailer's terms and conditions
- A coupon code not listed on the British Airways online store was used, making the transaction ineligible for Avios
- The retailer site cookies were not accepted
- Changes were made to your purchase which meant fewer Avios were awarded. In these cases, your original transaction may be cancelled and your new Avios amount credited to your account.
What is Speedy Awarding?
Selected retailers have been enrolled in our Speedy Awarding program which means you can receive your Avios within 5 days.
Which retailers offer Speeding Awarding?
Look for the 'speedy icon' to easily identify retailers that offer Speeding Awarding. The selection of retailers may change periodically, so make sure to check while browsing.
Why has my Speedy Awarding purchase not been approved within 5 days?
We may need to conduct further investigation before approving your purchase if we detect any unusual activity or purchasing patterns in your account.
I signed into my British Airways Executive Club account and shopped via the British Airways online store, but my orders aren't showing up in my account - what's going on?
There are a few reasons why you may not be able to see your purchases in your account:
- It can take up to five working days for a purchase to display as ‘Pending’
- Cookies may have been disabled on the browser you were using at the time of purchase. Cookies allow us to track your purchase and without them there’s no way for the system to award Avios to your account

My cookies are enabled but my purchases still aren’t showing up in my account
The British Airways online store works on a 'last referral' basis and clicking the 'shop now' button to visit your selected retailer allows us to track your purchase and award Avios.
Here are some guidelines to help make sure you receive your Avios:
- Sign in to your British Airways Executive Club account before clicking on the 'Shop now' button
- Complete your purchase online in one session
- Don't retrieve previously saved items in your shopping cart; start the process from scratch
- Don't click on another banner or website promoting the retailer before completing your transaction
- Don't use 'refer a friend' programs
- Don't modify or complete your order through the retailer's physical store or over the phone
- Disable internet security and ad-blocking software before using the British Airways Avios store
- Don't use voucher codes that were not provided on the British Airways Avios store site
- Gift card purchases are not eligible for Avios unless stated otherwise
- Use the same country's link within the retailer's site for making a purchase
- Ensure that you land on the retailer site from British Airways Avios store and accept their cookies
- Don't install browser extensions or add-ons from other reward sites
- Unless stated otherwise, purchases made through retailer apps will not be eligible for Avios. Please make your purchases through their website via your browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge)
What are British Airways Executive Club in-store offers?
You can collect Avios for in-store purchases at participating retailers by linking your payment cards to your British Airways Executive Club account and using the linked card to make the purchase. Check which retailers participate in our collect in-store offers.
You can link up to 10 credit or debit cards. You only need to do this once, and you can add or delete cards at any time.
It may take up to 24 hours for your card(s) to be linked to your account. Any transactions made within 24 hours of linking your card may not be tracked.
How do I link my cards?
Once logged in to your British Airways Executive Club account, use the 'link my card' feature on the British Airways online store. You can link up to 10 credit or debit cards to use when shopping with one of our in-store retail partners.
Why do you need my card details?
We use your registered payment cards to track your spend at participating retailers and award Avios. This makes collecting in-store effortless and means you won’t have to present anything else to the retailer.
Which cards can I use to collect Avios with in-store offers?
You can register UK-issued credit and debit cards that have the Visa, American Express, MasterCard or Maestro symbols. Some in-store offers may only be available on specific card types, which will be stated in the offer conditions.
How long after linking my cards will they become eligible to collect Avios in-store?
It may take up to 24 hours for linked payment cards to become eligible to collect Avios in-store.
How do I know which in-store offers are available?
Participating retailers and their current offers may vary by and change over time. We recommend checking the British Airways online store to see which offers are currently available.
How can I add or remove a card?
When you log in to your account on the British Airways online store, click on ‘My Account. You will see a list of cards you have linked to your account. Click on 'Add new card' if you would like to add a payment card or the delete icon if you would like to remove a card.
When should I see Avios collected through in-store retailers in my account?
After making a qualifying in-store transaction, it usually appears as 'Pending' in your account within 10 days. It may take an additional 35 days for the Avios to move from 'Pending' to 'Approved'. For hotel and travel bookings, policies, contracts, or subscriptions, it may take up to 90 to 120 days from the last day of your stay or the start date to see the Avios in your account.
Why have the Avios I have collected through in-store offers not appeared in my account?
If you return an item and receive a refund, the Avios you collected will be deducted from your account.
To collect Avios for in-store offers, you must register the payment card used to make the purchase up to 24 hours before the purchase.
You may not collect Avios if the same payment card is registered with another "card-linked offer". To avoid this, ensure that you remove or delete the card from any other program and re-register the same payment card on the British Airways online shop.
If you don't see your Avios pending in your account within 10 days of your purchase, you can make a claim for missing Avios.
Are my personal details safe?
Your personal information is kept confidential in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Will my card details be safe?
Your card details will be kept secure in accordance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) data standards. For more information about PCI standards, view our privacy policy.
Will I be contacted by any of your retailers?
We do not share your personal information with retailers in the British Airways online store. However, when you click on a ‘Shop now link, you will leave our website and be subject to the retailer's terms and conditions. If you provide your information to the retailer, they may contact you.
What do I do if I have forgotten my password?

Yes, you can select the ‘unlink’ box in your profile. This would mean you no longer have the ability to move your Avios from your Qatar Privilege Club and British Airways Executive Club account but you would retain the ability to use your accounts independently and access your balance in either account. You can only link your accounts twice in any 50-year period.
Can any member of a British Airways Executive Club Household account, link their account to a Qatar Airways Privilege Club account?
Yes, any member of a British Airways Executive Club Household account can link their account to their Qatar Airways Privilege Club account so long as their personal details match.
As each member of the Household account has their own individual membership number, they can only move their individual Avios balance.
As part of the Family Programme, the main member of a Qatar Airways Privilege Club account can move Avios to their British Airways Executive Club account, even if this account is not a Household account.
How can I move Avios between linked accounts?
Once your accounts are linked, you can use the “Combine your Avios” feature on the Qatar Airways website or on the British Airways website to move Avios between your accounts.
Is there a minimum or maximum amount of Avios that I can move?
There is no minimum amount of Avios that you can move, but you cannot move more Avios than is in your account.
Can I move Avios immediately after joining Qatar Airways Privilege Club or British Airways Executive Club?
Yes, you can move Avios immediately after joining.
I tried to move Avios between my accounts but they have not been credited. What can I do?
Avios are usually moved between accounts within minutes. However, if Avios have not been successfully transferred after 24 hours, members can contact Qatar Airways or for British Airways fill out the contact us form.
I moved one Avios from one account to another by mistake, can I move it back?
Yes, you can Avios between your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account and your British Airways Executive Club account as many times as you want.
What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication, also known as multi-factor authentication (MFA), is used as an additional layer of protection to ensure the security of online accounts in addition to usernames and passwords. Two-factor authentication usually involves sending a one-time code (OTC) via an SMS or email. You must fill in your one-time code when prompted to, on a website or mobile app, to verify that you are the person accessing your account.
Both Qatar Airways Privilege Club and British Airways Executive Club use two-factor authentication to protect their members’ accounts and you may be asked to complete both Privilege Club and British Airways two-factor authentication measures when linking accounts, moving or redeeming Avios.
Do I need to set up two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication is set up automatically for Qatar Airways Privilege Club members when registering for an account. Privilege Club members may choose when to complete their two-factor authentication. If you would like to complete additional security processes either when you log in or carry out transactions, you can visit their dashboard and update your settings.
British Airways Executive Club members must manually set up two-factor authentication when linking their British Airways Executive Club account to your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account. You will be prompted to enter your British Airways Executive Club login details and register a mobile phone number, where your one-time codes will be sent via SMS. You will also be asked to save a secure recovery code, which will be used in case you no longer use the mobile phone number that was registered when you set up two-factor authentication.
When do I need to complete a two-factor authentication process?
Depending on the preferences selected in your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account, you may be asked to complete the Qatar Airways two-factor authentication process when linking your Qatar Airways Privilege Club and British Airways Executive Club accounts.
You may also be asked to complete the process when moving Avios from their Qatar Airways Privilege Club account to your British Airways Executive Club account. British Airways Executive Club members will be prompted to set up two-factor authentication on your first login and will be asked to complete two-factor authentication by SMS on all subsequent logins.
You may also be prompted to complete the process when moving Avios from your British Airways Executive Club account to your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account.
I have not received my one-time code via SMS or email. What can I do?
Qatar Airways Privilege Club members may receive a one-time code via SMS, email or both. If you do not receive an SMS, it is possible that you opted to receive an email in your settings. You can opt to have your one-time code resent, from the verification screen. Ensure your contact number is up to date in your Privilege Club account and check your email spam or junk folders.
If you’re moving Avios from your British Airways Executive Club and you don’t receive a one-time code via SMS, you can opt to have it resent from the verification screen. If you don’t receive a verification SMS thereafter, you can use the secure recovery code that you received and saved when you first set up two-factor authentication.

How can you collect Avios?
Members of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club and British Airways Executive Club can collect Avios when you fly or book a holiday, hotel stay or car rental with Qatar Airways, British Airways, or both airlines.
What will happen to my Qmiles?
If you previously had Qmiles in your account, they will be converted to Avios at a rate of 1 Avios to 1 Qmile.
Will Qatar Airways Privilege Club change Qpoints and Qcredits to Avios?
No, Qpoints and Qcredits remain unchanged.

How does it work?
If you would like to convert Nectar Points to Avios then you need to link your Nectar and British Airways Executive Club accounts. Your personal details, including your first name, surname and date of birth need to be the same on both accounts to successfully link them.
How do I link my account?
You can link your accounts by following the link from either the British Airways website or the Nectar website.
How many accounts can I link to?
You can link one Nectar account to one British Airways Executive Club account. You can change the accounts you have linked up to a maximum of four times per year.
How will I know my accounts have been successfully linked?
You will receive a confirmation email after you have linked your accounts. You can also check if your accounts have been successfully linked on the Nectar website and on the Executive Club Exchange website.
How do I convert Nectar points or Avios?
Once you’ve linked your accounts, you can convert your Nectar points to Avios, or convert your Avios to Nectar points, on the by following the link from either the Executive Club Exchange website or the Nectar website.
How can I convert my Nectar points automatically?
You can choose to schedule your Nectar points to automatically convert to Avios or vice versa.
Your balance will be converted in increments of 400. For example, if you have 802 Nectar points at the time of conversion, we will convert 800 and leave 2 in your Nectar account. You need to have a minimum balance of 400 Nectar points for the conversation to take place.
Automatically converting Nectar Points to Avios or vice versa takes about 12 days.
Is there a minimum number of Nectar Points or Avios I can convert?
The minimum number of Nectar Points or Avios that can be converted is 400.
What are the maximum I can convert automatically?
The maximum amount of Avios you can automatically convert to Nectar points is 25,200 Avios per quarter.
The maximum amount of Nectar points you can convert to Avios is 40,000 per quarter.
What are the maximum number of points I can convert manually?
You can manually convert up to a maximum of 50,000 Avios or 80,000 Nectar points per calendar month.
I have opted in to automatically convert my Nectar points to Avios, can I change this?
Yes you can make changes to your account by logging into either of your accounts and following the instructions on the website.
I have scheduled automatic conversion, can I also manually convert my Nectar Points or Avios?
Yes, provided they are within the quarterly and monthly limits as outlined above. The limits are independent of one another.
I have manually converted my Nectar Points to Avios, how long will it take for the points to convert?
Nectar points that have been manually converted to Avios should be immediately available in your British Airways Executive Club account.
I have manually converted my Avios to Nectar Points, how long will it take for the points to convert?
Your Avios will be deducted from your British Airways Executive Club account immediately and will be converted and credited to your Nectar account 12 days later.
I am a member of a British Airways Executive Club Household account, can I still link to a Nectar account?
Yes, each individual British Airways Executive Club Member can link their account to a Nectar account.
I am a Nectar secondary card holder, can I link my account to a British Airways Executive Club account?

How does linking accounts work?
You can link one BPme Rewards account to one British Airways Executive Club account to exchange BPme Rewards to Avios. The accounts do not have to belong to the same person so you can link your BPme Rewards account to a friend or family member’s British Airways Executive Club account.
How do I link my account?
You can link your accounts by following the link from either BA.com or BPme Rewards.
How many accounts can I link to?
You can link one BPme Rewards account to one British Airways Executive Club account.
How will I know my accounts have been successfully linked?
You will receive a confirmation email after you have linked your BPme Rewards account to your British Airways Executive Club account. You can also check your linked status on BPme Rewards and on the British Airways Executive Club Exchange website.

How do I convert BPme Rewards points?

You can choose to set-up auto-conversion. Every month we will convert your entire BPme Rewards points balance up to the automatic exchange limit. Balances will be converted in increments of 40 BPme Rewards points.
What are the minimum number of points I can convert?

What are the maximum number of points I can convert automatically?
We’ll automatically convert up to a maximum of 30,000 BPme Rewards points per month.

Yes, if they are within the quarterly and monthly limits as outlined above. The limits are independent of one another.

No. You cannot exchange Avios for BPme Rewards Points.
I am unable to convert BPme Rewards points to Avios
You must be an active member of BPme Rewards in order to convert points. To activate your membership please make a minimum purchase of £1 using your registered BPme Rewards card or app.

Who can buy Avios?

How many Avios can I buy?
You can buy up to 200,000 Avios per calendar year, in one or more transactions. This limit automatically resets on 1 January every year.
I belong to a Household with one or more other accounts, which account will the Avios I purchase go to?
When you buy Avios, they will be added to your account.
If I am gifted or transferred Avios, will this count against my annual limit?
No. Avios gifted, transferred or received have their own yearly cap.
I received a bonus award when I purchased Avios. Will the bonus amount my annual limit??
No, if you purchased Avios and received a bonus, the bonus amount will not be factored into your annual limit.
Can I purchase Avios for someone else?
You can purchase Avios as a gift for someone else using the Gift Avios function.

Gifted Avios will be added to the balance of the person you bought it for.
If the recipient is a member of a Household account, their balance will be pooled with the other members of the Household.
Any member of a Household can redeem Avios from the Household account, the amount of Avios will be taken from individual members’ balance on a pro-rata basis.
Can I gift Avios to someone in my Household account?
Yes, Avios can be gifted to another member of your Household account.
Will gifted Avios expire?
Avios expires if your account has been inactive for 36 months. If you are gifted Avios, your whole Avios balance will remain active for 36 months from the date you received your gift.

I want to transfer Avios to someone who is a member of a Household account. Where will my transferred Avios go?
Transferred Avios are added to the balance of the individual account to which they were transferred, and therefore, available to be redeemed by members of the household.
How many Avios can I boost?
You can use the Balance Boost function as many times as you’d like, provided your Avios are eligible. The first 300,000 Avios can be boosted at our cheapest rates, after that, the price goes up.
Why can’t I boost all my Avios?
Balance Boost is all about rewarding Avios collection in the BA Executive Club, plus it offers the cheapest way to buy Avios.
That’s why transfers from other airlines or members, Nectar conversions and previously purchased Avios can’t be boosted. We reserve the right to decide which transactions qualify for boosting.
When can I boost my Avios?
Your eligible transactions can be boosted within 30 days of appearing in your British Airways Executive Club account. Pending Avios can’t be boosted.
How do I get a refund for my boost?
If you have changed your mind, you can get a refund for your Ba;lance Boost within 14 days. Just click on the refund link in the transaction confirmation email and we’ll do the rest.
Once the refund is processed the transaction can be boosted again, provided it’s still within the 30 day limit from when you originally collected your Avios.
Can I get a refund for my Avios Subscription?
You can request a refund for your subscription within 14 days of your original transaction date, if the Avios haven’t been used. To request a refund, log in to your account and go to your 'My Subscription' and click the 'I'd like a refund' button. Once you have confirmed your choice, we will refund you within 14 days.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled after three months and yearly subscriptions can be cancelled after 12 months. You can manage your subscription by logging into your account and clicking ‘My Subscription’.
We'll send you a confirmation email to confirm your cancellation request has been received and actioned.
How can I change the card I use to pay for my subscription?
Simply log in to your account and go to the ‘My Subscription’ where you will see the option to edit your card.
What happens if my payment fails?
We’ll try to process your payment the following day and five more times before your subscription status will change to 'closed'.
Please make sure you have sufficient funds on your registered card for your next subscription payment to be processed.
How long will it take to receive my Avios?
Once your Avios has been paid for, it should be credited to your British Airways Executive Club account immediately, but it can take up to 36 hours. If it has been longer than 36 hours and you have not received your Avios, you can open a claim for missing Avios.
When will I receive my Avios?
We’ll credit Avios into your British Airways Executive account on the same day every month from the moment you sign up, for example, if you subscribe on 2 October, your next Avios instalment will be issued on 2 November and so on.
How can I change the currency I subscribe in?
Your currency is based on where you registered for your British Airways Executive Club account and cannot be changed. If you signed up from the UK you will be charged in GBP, if you signed up in Europe you will be charged in Euros and if you signed up anywhere else in the world, you will be charged USD.
Can I change my Avios Subscription plan?
Currently, you cannot change your subscription plan. Annual payment plans can be cancelled after 12 months and monthly payment plans can be cancelled after three months. After that you can sign up again to your chosen plan.
Why is my Avios Subscription price different to what is being advertised elsewhere?
We change subscription prices from time to time, so the price displayed somewhere else can be different from the price you pay. Your active subscription price is displayed in the 'My Subscription' area and it’s the price accepted at the start of your subscription. You’ll pay this price for as long as your subscription plan remains active. If you choose to cancel and resubscribe, new prices will apply.

Missing Avios
British Airways Avios eStore transactions can take up to five days to appear in your purchase history. If five days have passed but you can’t see a transaction, you can raise a claim for missing Avios.
Most of the time, Avios will appear in your account within 35 days, but there are some exceptions to this:
- If you have purchased a subscription or contract it may take up to 120 days from the contract or subscription start date to be awarded Avios.
- If you have made a hotel or accommodation booking it may take up to 120 days after you have completed your stay to be awarded Avios.
If the allotted time has past and Avios has still not been awarded to your account then you can claim for missing Avios using our form. You will need to have your Executive club membership number and the details of the transaction you wish to claim for.
